Information about Baccarat
Baccarat is a fun and basically very simple casino game that can take a couple of minutes to understand. But once you understand the canter, you quickly realize that it is basically extremely uncomplicated to play.
On the surface, Baccarat looks a bit like Black jack . You draw cards, and you want to end up honoring a certain point as much as possible. (in Blackjack, 21 counts, in Baccarat you want to get up to 9) but that's where the similarities really end.
In Baccarat, it doesn't necessarily matter if the player or the House wins. What matters is that you have bet correctly that either the player or the House wins! In this way, Baccarat actually has more in common with the casino classic Roulette same with Blackjack.

What is Baccarat card game?
Some say, actually wrongly, that the purpose of Baccarat is to get as close to the number 9 as possible. However, this is not really true, the goal is instead to bet correctly on either the bank or the player winning, possibly that it will be equal. Also, don't be confused by the terms ”bank” and ”player” – they're just names, and the ”player” doesn't really have much to do with you actually playing. It's just one of three possible bets. We know this sounds messy, so we'll walk you through it with a simpler setup;
How to play Baccarat:
- The game starts with you making a bet. Click on chips corresponding to the amount you want to bet. Then put these in one of the fields ”Player”, ”Banker” or ”Tie”.
- Then click on "Deal". Now two cards each are dealt to the player and the banker.
- The points are added up as follows: Aces have a value of one, numbered cards have their natural value, and face cards have a value of 0. The total score can never be higher than 9. So, for example, you get two 5s hitting the sum over and getting zero. If you get two 7s, the score will be 4 and so on.
- What happens next depends on what sums players and the bank have. If any of them has received a” natural hand " (Score 8 or 9), the round is over and the one with the highest score wins. In the event of a tie, the bet is returned, unless you bet on a ”Tie” – then you win 9:1.
- If none of these scenarios occur, the game proceeds according to rules that are difficult to summarize briefly. Feel free to read more in our baccarat course a little further down for some more in-depth strategies and tips.
Baccarat strategy course
Don't worry about studying the game at 100%, after all, it's still a casino game that brings winnings at random. But there are a couple of rules of thumb that can help you on the trot as a total beginner, so if you combine these with the points from the game above, you have a clearly good start.
Selection of games
Before you sit down to play baccarat, you should scan the different tables available to choose from. The fewer decks used in the game and the lower the commission the bank takes when it finds, the better your odds look.
As a rule, games with a deck of Cards are best. Such games are basically impossible to find in a regular casino however, it is usually found at most online casinos that offer Baccarat.
If possible, avoid Baccarat with eight decks as this gives the player the worst odds. As a rule, the House commission varies between 4 and 5%, so choose a bet, the commission is on the lower scale when you have the chance.
Selection of BET
Thus, in Baccarat, you can choose between three different types of bets. You can bet on the banker's hand, the player's hand or on a tie game. It can be tempting to vary their bets, but the recommendation is that you only bet on the bank because this option gives the best payout in the long run.
Betting on the player carries marginally worse payoffs, while betting that there would be a draw statistically is by far the worst option.
Money Management & Discipline
These two factors are crucial to how well you will succeed as a player. It is important to be aware that Baccarat is a game of luck where you need a pinch of flax to win. With this in mind, it is extra important that you choose to manage your money in a consistent manner.
It's not a good idea to suddenly place high stakes or take bigger risks in a game like baccarat. Decide how much to bet and stick to that amount. For example, if the minimum bet at the table you are playing at is$ 200, you should make sure that you have at least 3 000 – 5 000$ when you sit down at the table. Use the minimum bet throughout the game.
If you play your cards right, you will never lose more than you intended, and if you are lucky, there are good chances of winning instead!

Baccarat has undeservedly gained a reputation of being a game played only by and with wealthy people and with huge stakes. Casino school: learn to play Baccarat
Baccarat is not the most well-known game among New Zealand casino players. Why it happens that way, we don't really know. But maybe the story of the game has something to do with it. Baccarat has traditionally been played in the most luxurious lounges of the most glamorous casinos. In special casino rooms for players who bet bigger, stone-rich old men have hung over the baccarat table, sitting sprawled on more than you and I earn in a year.
Yep-baccarat has been a bit of a snobbish game, but that stamp is about to be washed away. There is no reason why baccarat is better than any other casino game. In fact, it is perhaps the easiest game of all – at least if you are not a croupier.
There is a lot to be said about baccarat, but first of all, we want to note that you don't have to feel stressed in the face of intricate rules. Anyone can play baccarat, and since it is a pure game of chance, there is no strategy or special skill. However, you need to know which bets are good, and which are less good. This, and much more, will be discussed below.
Baccarat – get started in no time
"Life is not harder than you make it" - this is how healthy people can hatch, especially those who have it well biased in this life. But as far as baccarat is concerned, that's a pretty good description. If you want to keep it simple, you can follow a single principle. If you want to understand exactly how the game works, well then you have to strain the little Grays a little more.
Anyway, the only thing you need to know to be as ”good” at baccarat as anyone else is the following: always bet on the bank ! That's it-you are now a full-fledged casino king.
In fact, traditional baccarat has three possible bets: the banker, the player, or the tie. And with simple (well) mathematics, you can show that betting on the bank is the most advantageous of these. Betting on the player gives slightly worse odds, while betting on equals has pretty lousy odds.
The basic course of the game
To give you some context, we will now go through how a round of baccarat works. We wait with the more advanced details of the$ING croupier's actions, which are thus not necessary to understand in order to play.
1. Bet: decide how much you want to bet and place the chips on the surface of the table corresponding to your bet (hint: bet on the bank)
2. First card distribution: the croupier deals two cards to you and two to himself.
3. Counting of card hands: now the value of the hands is calculated. Aces have a value of one, number cards (except 10) have their natural value, while 10 and face cards have a value of zero. You can never get over 9 – for example, if you get 5 + 6, 10 is subtracted and the hand's value becomes 1.
4. At card value 8 or 9: if the player or banker has a score of 8 or 9, the round is over and the highest hand wins. If it is equal, you get the bet back (if you did not bet on ”Tie”).
5. The player receives a new card:
- his total is 5 or lower.
So far no oddities. That is, first, as for the rules$ing Bank's possible third card it will be a little more complicated:
6. The bank receives a new card:
- the bank's total is between 0 and 2.
- the bank total is 3 and the player's third card is not 8.
- the bank total is 4 and the player's third card is between 2 and 7.
- the bank total is 5 and the player's third card is between 4 and 7.
- the bank total is 6 and the player's third card is 6 or 7.
Does it seem snappy? Well, it's a little different and intricate. But think of it as an advanced form of dice throwing. The croupier's actions are always governed by the rules of the game, and as a player you cannot influence the course of the game more than you can influence the outcome of a thrown dice. If you still want to familiarize yourself with the underlying rules, just try out a free demo version of baccarat, while looking at Point 6 above. Soon you will catch the gallop.
About Odds and dividends in baccarat
We have already repeated a few times that a bet on the bank is always preferable. Now we will explain why, for those who are interested. Usually when you hear "the banker” and" the player " you assume that you as a player should win over the banker. In baccarat, things are a little different – ”Bank” and ”player” can just as easily be exchanged for ”BET A” and ”bet B”. It doesn't matter if the ”player” wins – the only thing that matters is that you make the right bet!
Bet | Dividend | Probability | House advantage |
Bank | 0,95:1 | c: a 45,9% | 1,06% |
Player | 1:1 | c: a 44,6% | 1,24% |
As | 8:1 | c: a 9,6% | 14,4% |
The reason that profit when betting on the bank to win only gives 0.95:1 is that the casino receives a small commission on this win. But it does not matter-this bet is still better than betting on the player, and far better than betting on the equal!
It can be tempting to bet on equal (or ”Tie” as it is usually called in the games) as it can give fairly large winnings. However, as you can see in the table, the house edge is significantly greater for it than for the other bets. In the long run, this is a sure way to get rid of money.
The difference between betting on the banker and betting on the player is not as big – but why not choose the option that gives you the best chance of winning? With a theoretical payout of 98.94%, a bet on the house in baccarat is one of the more advantageous bets you can place in a casino game.
