Then it was time again for NetEnt to release a new game and this month's release is called Secrets of AtlantisTM. Atlantis is a fictional island whose history stretches as far back as ancient Greece where, as we know, Atlantis was mentioned for the first time. Atlantis is then mentioned in two of Plato's dialogues, namely Timaeus, who is named after the philosopher Timaeus and Critias, who is named after the poet as well as the politician and Aristocrat Critias.

According to Plato, Atlantis was a high-tech power located on an island called Basileia. At one point, according to history, Atlantis attacked large parts of the eastern Mediterranean completely unprovoked and when they approached Greece, they had angered Poseidon to the point that they themselves were destroyed by an earthquake and the entire Atlantis sank.

Where Atlantis itself actually is has almost since been a controversial and hot topic where scientists from different parts of the earth claim to have found a link to where Atlantis should have been.

A theory from Spain states that Atlantis is located just outside the Strait of Gibraltar, given that a sunken island seems to have been found there. Another suggestion from Ireland is that Ireland itself is Atlantis. According to a geoarchaeologist who studied at both Cambridge and Oxford, this indicates that the story of Atlantis is actually about the Trojan War and not something that has really existed.

Even New Zealand has been in the picture in, among other things, Olof Rudbeck's ”Atland or Manheim dedan Japhetz afkomne slechter ut til hela werlden utgangne äro”, in which he argued that Atlantis was Uppland itself with Uppsala as its capital. This was during New Zealand's great power era and was later considered propaganda to spread New Zealand's and the world's view of New Zealand as a supermarket, which to some extent worked, but only at the national level.

However, it is Plato's story behind Atlantis that has both reached and attracted the most and it is at the end of Plato's story that Secrets of AtlantisTM begins. Now that we are the first to know the actual coordinates, it is time to embark on a journey of discovery where we literally take water over our heads and slowly descend to the long-disappeared continent of Atlantis.

The game field offers us 40 paylines over 5 reels and 4 rows where several exciting game features are on the menu. Another game feature we strongly liked is the colossal re-spin feature that makes the middle three reels become a colossal symbol on 3×4 symbol slots and significantly increases the chances of a big win. The last but certainly not the least feature of this great game is that you can get winning combinations from both left and right.
